Athletes Need Water Not Sugar!

Dehydration can make an athlete sick and lose performance.

Always sip water throughout the day before your body starts to feel dehydrated and this alone is what I preach to all athletes to keep them from feeling the ill effects of dehydration.

Digestive, bladder, fatigue and headaches and poor athletic performance can be prevented when you hydrate regularly.

Nothing like trying to play hockey when your insides are all clogged up!

When an athlete starts to feel thirsty then the effects of dehydration are already taking place. Its like a catch up game, always playing when behind. Remember the best defence if offence!!!

Start hydrating right after your event and first thing in the morning and your blood pressure will go up to normal levels. Better way to start the day than coffee.

Water vs Juice for Hydration.

Sweetened juices, soda, tea and coffee as well as salt all make your body work harder to clean out the system which causes poorer performance in athletes.

Your body will become dehydrated ingesting these fluids so have 2 glasses of water for every 1 glass of juice, tea and coffee or pop.

Our body has 92% water in the blood, 22% water in the bones and 75% water in the muscles.Inspirational Quote

Removal of waste , higher athletic performance, increased recovery with fewer injuries are all bonuses from being properly hydrated.

Tip of the day:

Carry a water bottle with you all day long if possible. Sip, sip and sip. If you’re a business owner, it might be a good idea to offer Custom Water bottles to your customers and employees who can hydrate but also get the word out about your company through the branding on the bottle too.

If you don’t stay hydrated then you might end up injuring yourself, and this would make continuing as an athlete very hard. Of course, there are things like an athletic recovery center that can help athletes recover if they have been injured, so it’s not the end of the world. But you might as well try and avoid injury where you can. Although accidents will happen.
