Wrestling At Russian Community Centre

An exciting night of pro-wrestling of the ECCW Extreme Canadian Wrestling Championships took place at the Russian Community Centre on West 4th Saturday August 25th.

Everyone was thanked as this was the largest crowd for their events which featured exciting matches.

The main attraction was the one that featured the (longest reigning) Intercontinental Championship title defence of all time by the Honky Tonk Man “Wayne Ferris” on the WWF World Wrestling Federation.

Scotty Mac and his partner Jamie Diaz started the show demanding from the Riot Squad that their title belts be returned.

These (apparently) were stolen two weeks prior this event. They were given two options of returning the belts or we’ll have to beat them out.

From here the battle was on as they exchanged battles as the Riot squad left Scotty Mac and his partner down and out celebrating the beating by laying the belts on the two fallen wrestlers.

They got their wish of having the belts returned, but not as they had requested and a little worse for wear.

This got the night off to a great start night off to great start as they faced the teams Tony Baroni and Artemas Spencer.

They pounded the team of Scotty Mac and Diaz on a sequence in a non title match up as they exchanged action coming close to getting the pin.

It was Tony Baroni on a drop from the top rope nailing a elbow drop on Diaz getting the pin with assistance from Spencer giving them the match win.

This was followed by the Women’s Championship and on the line was KC Spinelli taking on Riea. The match had neither gaining an advantage until KC hit her finishing move to win the bout and regain her title.

ECCW Championship match had J. Sin Sullivan meet Moondog Manson for the title. This battle between two large men hard to knock down and Sullivan had the edge and continued to pound Moondog to a pulp.

Moondog finally got and edge and started to gain an advantage over Sullivan and came close to win the match.

With the help of his manager (an attractive blonde) who threw in a chair into the ring which saw Sullivan hit Moondog in the head busting him open getting the pin on the canvas.

As he celebrated the return, Sid Sylem came in and sent a message to Sullivan with chair shots busting Sullivan open and a challenge match to take place September 8th.

This will take place at the Russian Centre which will be for a title shot. Next up saw the Honky Tonk Man.

Wayne Ferris was introduced to the crowd and the fans took everything in thanking them for making this the largest attendance in the ECCW history at the Russian Community Centre.

He mentioned it had been a while since he was in Vancouver and it was good to be back for a charity that he is involved with, called Locks of love.

This is one where hair to restore loss of hair for charity groups and encouraged everyone to keep it in mind as a way to give back to the community.

Things were going along fine until he was interrupted by some from the crowd acting on behalf of the Honky Tonk Kid who wanted his daddy to love him and accept him into the family.

The Honky Tonk Man had early advantage as the kid took a beating and was in difficulty several times in the bout. This just before getting an advantage and starting to come back against it, which was short lived.

“The Man” finally nailed him the shake and Rattle neck breaker to drop him and pin him for the victory and sealing it with a guitar shot to the head to the Honky Tonk Kid back to the showers.

Honky Tonk Man signed autographs for the fans in the ring and had their picture taken as well with the legend during the break between bouts as several took the opportunity to get a chance to meet wrestling legend.

The night concluded and the fans went home happy after a great night of wrestling.
