Slalom Paddlers Prepare

Hitting the water park simply does not get another credit and for most of us, it’s about hitting the water parks in the summer for a Family outing.

canoeThis weekend it’s game on for the top slalom paddlers in Canada and it’s time to hear about the trip they are making down the Rutherford River for the 2014 Canadian Slalom Canoe Kayak Team Trials.

The event is being held in Pemberton, which is a short trip north of Whistler, which is about 2 1/2 hours north of Vancouver for those who are not sure about traveling throughout BC.

Several Athletes will race through white-water, taking the fastest lines they can find through a course of green downstream gates and red upstream gates in pursuit of claiming a spot on the National Team.

Results of the weekend trials will determine who will represent Canada at World Cups and World Championships.

Competitors will race two runs on Saturday and two runs on Sunday on a different course. Their three best runs will count towards their overall ranking and performance standards will be used to select teams.

Media are invited to attend and information can be sent to those who cannot attend but are interested in covering the event.
