Chris Weidman the UFC middleweight champion has withdrawn against Vitor Belfort in a fight that was scheduled from a scheduled for Feb. 28 in Los Angeles due to a rib injury.
Officials confirmed that the Pay-Per-View headline event as reported by www.MMAJunkie.com that a Female Bantam Weight title fight between Ronda Rousey and Cat Zingano will now be on the card.
It is not the first time this postponement has happened and ironically it is the third time a scheduled Weidman-Belfort fight has fallen through due to various reasons.
The two were supposed to meet at UFC 173 this past May in Vegas, but Belfort pulled out in February when the Nevada State Athletic Commission voted unanimously to ban testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) from combat sports.
Belfort was on approved use of TRT at the time.
Weidman who was 12-0 went on to fight against Lyoto Machida at UFC 175 in July/14 and shortly after Weidman defeated Machida via unanimous decision, the UFC rebooked his fight against Belfort for Dec. 6 in Vegas.
The bout failed to materialize again, however, as Weidman pulled out due to a hand injury.
Belfort (24-10) is not expected to fight anyone else at UFC 184.
Weidman at the young age of 37 has not fought since he knocked out Dan Henderson in the first round of a light heavyweight bout Nov. 9th of 2013.
A non-title female bantamweight fight between Holly Holm and Raquel Pennington has been promoted to the UFC 184 co-main event.
