Bouchard/Raonic Advance At French Open

Reaching the third round is not an easy task, but to the surprise of many two Canadians Eugenie Bouchard and Milos Raonic advanced to the third round of the French Open. It will be intriguing to see how this effects the bookmakers odds for winning the coveted title. You will find more info here on this. If you are interested in making bets of your own, it might be worth visiting a Gambling Ball (known as a Judi Bola in Indonesian).

Eugenie BouchardBouchard (2-6, 6-2, 6-1) managed a come-from-behind win over German Julia Goerge while the eighth-seeded player, Canada’s Milos Raonic defeated Czech Jiri Vesely (7-6 (4), 6-4, 6-1) to reach third round play for a third consecutive year.

Thornhill’s Raonic had a let down in the first set, but did manage to win the hour-long opener in a tiebreak, eventually taking control of the match.

Bouchard is the 18th seed and at times struggled in the first set before rallying but fought hard and stayed consistent with her play, thus advancing.

Bouchard calls WestmountQuebec home and will now play Johanna Larsson of Sweden, who pulled off an upset defeating 12th-seeded Italian Flavia Pennetta by scores of 5-7, 6-4, 6-2.

Also in men’s doubles first-round action, Daniel Nestor of Toronto and Serbian partner Nenad Zimonjic defeated Australia’s Matthew Ebden and Russia’s Dmitry Tursunov 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.

To the surprise of many tennis stars Serena and Venus Williams will both be heading home early, which never makes organizers happy.Serena and Venus Williams

Serena, who is the defending French Open Champion and a 17-time major winner, lost to Spain’s Garbine Muguruza 6-2, 6-2, marking her earliest exit at a major tournament since falling in the first round at Roland Garros two years ago.

Serena’s older sister Venus was eliminated by Anna Schmiedlova of Slovakia in three set’s 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.
