Volleyball is one such sport that seldom gets coverage at various levels of the game, unless it’s at the CIS level and for the sport to grow that has to change from all media outlets.
The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association is proud to announce the 2015 CCAA Women’s Volleyball All-Canadians.
The student-athletes, who are selected by their conference based on performance and contribution to the sport and their team, were honoured at a banquet during the 2015 CCAA Women’s Volleyball National Championship at Cégep Édouard-Montpetit in Longueuil, QC.
Holland College has a tradition of growing varsity sports programs on both local and National levels, as well they’re also becoming extremely experienced at hosting National Championships.
The Hurricanes have been awarded the 2016 CCAA Women’s Volleyball National Championship and the bid was approved by the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association’s Winter Board Meeting in Ottawa.
Holland will also host the Men’s Volleyball National Championship this March. In addition, the Hurricanes hosted the 2012 CCAA Women’s Soccer National Championship.
Albert Roche, Athletic Director told the media “Holland College is thrilled to be given the opportunity to host back-to-back CCAA volleyball national championships.”
He continued “Bringing this high-caliber level of play to the Island benefits our volleyball community and our program and moreover, we are poised to deliver a quality student-athlete experience for everyone fortunate enough to make an appearance at Nationals.”
When the chance came to host a second consecutive National Championship event, the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association was up for the task.
The City of Charlottetown has what it takes to host an event of this magnitude and with an extraordinary sport as well as many outstanding volunteers they are up for the task.
