Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame made it official introduces Nick Tuele as the newest Honorary Life Member for the hall.
The recognition for the Honorary Life Membership is recognition for someone recognized to have shown extraordinary contributions over an extended time.
He first joined the Board of Directors in 2002 that brought previous Board and exhibition production experience to the hall taking up the positions of VP (2006 – 2008), President (2008 – 2015) and Past President ranging from 2015 to 2018.
Currently he is no longer on the Board, but still extremely active as the official archivist that has him work on displays and archiving historical memorabilia.
He spearheaded the annual Family Sport and Recreation Festival held every May at PISE, and the annual Bate Family/GVSHoF Vikes Award at the University of Victoria.
He mentioned “I am deeply humbled with this honour that the Board has bestowed on me.”
He was responsible for moving or relocating the GV Sports Hall of Fame displays to the Save-On Foods Memorial Centre as well as the annual Induction Ceremony.
Tuele continued to mention “I am particularly pleased with the move to Bear Mountain for our annual Induction Ceremony as well as the support received from Dan Mathews and his team at Ecoasis.”
Shannon Drew, Ecoasis Vice-President, Corporate Affairs and Community presented the award at the Westin Bear Mountain.
He is the 12th individual to achieve the recognition of Honorary Life Member.
