International Youth Ski Races

Published on

While the warm weather might be upon us in parts of Canada, some areas are still enjoying time on the slopes, which is a switch from what we have experienced in the previous years.

Thanks to Alpine Canada I received the following about the upcoming 24th annual Whistler Cup, presented by Mackenzie Investments with 18 countries participating in the races running from April 1-3, 2016 in Whistler.

The Mackenzie Investments Whistler Cup is one of the most prestigious international youth ski races in the world for aspiring FIS World Cup racers aged 12 to 15.

Racers will compete in super G, slalom and giant slalom races over the three days of competition in Whistler. Nine women and eight men will proudly represent Canada over the three days of races.

Many of ACA’s most talented athletes have participated in the Mackenzie Investments Whistler Cup including Olympic medalists Marielle Thompson, Kelsey Serwa and Jan Hudec. Canadian Cowboys Erik Guay and Manuel Osborne-Paradis have also competed in the events.

This exciting series is an opportunity for young talent to shine, competing on some of Canada’s best alpine terrain.

“I’m excited to have everyone here for Whistler Cup,” said Dusan Grasic, Director of Domestic Sport at Alpine Canada Alpin. “We’ve spent the last few days training here in Whistler and having qualification races. Thank you to Whistler Blackcomb and the Weasel Workers for making everything happen and we’ll try and bring home the Nation’s Cup!”
