You know its so hard to achieve a goal when the the achievement is new.

You are a 40 yr old who has a yearning to increase Leg strength to compete better in the + 40 soccer league.

Train 2x per day 3x per week. for 6 weeks. Add exercises that incorporate hills,pool and squats to be very successful in getting over training plateaus .

Plateaus mean you are stagnant and need to do new exercises. Change in routine is good.

Increase your calories per day and keep track of your routine on a 60 day calendar without missing any.

Hill climbing 3x per week plus adding 2 pool and 2 gym workouts per week with weekly changes in duration and intensity is truly the easiest way to be more competitive and increase leg strength.

As one might expect your leg strength will change your game drastically .

Your balance, speed and agility will be also experiencing positive physiological changes, You might even get a goal when you strengthen up.
