Grandfather Was Music Teacher

So we see a new rising  super-star in the world of golf when most are wondering if Tiger can ever recover from the sand trap he’s been relegated to the past while.

We are asking “who’s this new kid on the block and where did he come from” and to the surprise of many he was born in Dallas Texas and attended St. Monica Catholic School.

He tied the 72 hole record set by Tiger in 1997 and then went on to become only the second youngest to win the Masters, only behind Woods and is the youngest U.S. Open champion since Bobby Jones in 1923.

His grandfather Donald Spieth, is a music teacher and was a long-time conductor of the (former) Lehigh Valley Chamber Orchestra.

He has two younger siblings, Steven who plays basketball at Brown University and Ellie who has grown up with disabilities to whom Jordan credits with keeping him on the straight and narrow.

Now, we are seeing a new upcoming sensation emerge in the golfing world and it’s so refreshing to watch him play a regular round, such as Jack and Tiger used to.

Spieth (22) won The Masters and the U.S. Open earlier in the season and managed to open the 2015 PGA Championship with a 1-under par 71, which put him five shots behind the lead after one round.

As we have grown to know and understand he (Spieth) get’s better each round or hole he plays and one thing that everyone notices is that he never gives up.

Earlier this season at the John Deere Classic he dismissed in the first round  that he wasn’t just some “kid” who got lucky.

This week, however he (Spieth) plans on doing it over again as he followed his 71 with a 5-under par 67 on Friday.

Saturday is when everyone saw him play his game as his front nine was nothing special, but managed to card a 1-under par 35.

It was his back nine that put him in contention as he had birdies on 11, 12 and 13 and again on 16, 17 and 18.

He shot a 6-under par 30 on the back nine and moved into a tie for second overall at 13-under par for the event.

He currently sits two shots behind Jason Day who is the 54-hole leader but given how the course (Whistling Straits) is playing we might get another low round out of him during the week.

To the shock of many he failed to win the PGA Championship earlier in the day, but did move to No. 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking.

This being the first ever “American Slam“, winning all three majors on U.S. soil in the same season.Tiger and Jordan

This “kid” is yet another reason the young people are liking golf and maybe it’s about time someone take charge?
