Svensson Captures Web.com Tour

Growing up in the lower mainland offers the chance to play golf year round and one such player that took advantage of this was Surrey’s 21 year-old Adam Svensson.

He shot a final-round 1-over 72 capturing win the www.Web.com Tour qualifying tournament by a full seven shots over Ian Davis (69) and Jason Millard (70) both from the US.

Over rounds of play he (Svensson) managed a 20 under-par 266 total at the PGA National Resort & Spa.

The win earned him $25,000 (US) and also grants him a full exempt status on the Web.com Tour for the 2016 season.

In 2012 he won a Canadian junior title and helped Canada to a runner-up finish at last year’s world amateur team championship in Japan.

Svensson told the media “It’s huge and it’s always tough to win at any level, so I just tried to have fun.”

Svensson is a former Barry University Buccaneer who decided to leave after his sophomore campaign to pursue golf full time.

In just six starts on Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada, the former Division II Player of the Year recorded two runner-up performances and finished No. 9 on the Order of Merit. adam 1

With the 2016 Web.com Tour Regular Season set to begin in Panama City, Panama, at the Panama Claro Championship (January/2016) he stated “My goal is to win out there and get my PGA TOUR card.”

As a member of the Golf Canada’s Young Pro Squad member would welcome the experience of playing in the summer games next year.

When asked about the chance to represent Canada in Rio he mentioned “I would love to play in the Olympics, but it’s going to be hard, there’s a lot of good Canadians on the PGA TOUR.”

He also added three top 25s in seven starts on the Web.com Tour.
