Change Your Routine

Published on

Hi Readers:

Some of the best athletes use a swimming pool deep tank for providing an excellent cross training experience.

A young lady I trained in 2008 was at the top of her class playing NCAA Softball but was injured from the constant weight training and lack of change in her routine.

We came up with a plan to train 3 times per week in the pool and see if we could loosen up a well defined yet very ridged upper frame.

Abs with your head going down in the water are a mental and physical challenge as is getting a weight off the bottom of the deep tank without touching the bottom to get up.

She worked hard at the drills for 6 solid weeks and was able to swing a bat without feeling any tightness in her shoulders and/or hips.

Cardio training is very effective in a deep tank and so we were able to keep up her endurance without adding pressure to her frame by running outside.

This athlete took advantage of the pool training situation to change her workouts and routine for a better end result.

That result for her was a trip to the Beijing Olympics on Canada’s Women’s Softball team in 2008.

You too can experience mental and physical gains by introducing Water Workouts to your training.

Mark O’Neill and Shelley Donald are both registered personal trainers.
