The 2012 CN Canadian Women’s Open had amateur Lydia Ko (15) and Chella Choi tied at the top the leader board at 8-under 136 through 36 holes entering Saturday’s round.

Ko is the world’s top ranked Female Amateur and the winner of the 2012 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship.

She shot 4-under (68) for the second consecutive day, posting a bogey-free round in which she birdied four of her final seven holes on the back-nine.

This helped her close out round two and look toward a successful weekend.

As a Nation we sent 15 to the initial player field and unfortunately for 14, Jessica Shepley is the lone player that remains to see weekend action. Her two-day tally of 3-over (147) to sit T59 for the Championship.

Entering the weekend see’s our lone rep is Jessica Shepley (29) from Oakville who managed to sink a bogey put which saved her on the 18^th. She told the media “I’m just going to try my best and I think every Canadian wants to be playing on the weekend. I feel for those girls. I’ve been in that position a couple times before, so I’m just going to go out and focus on myself and try to represent my country.”

She was in one of the last groups to set out and managed to finish with a two-over (74) that placed her on the LPG A cut line of 147. She continued to tell the media “Obviously, that’s not what I was looking for, to have a 10-foot downhill, left-to-right slider on 18 to make the cut, but it went in, so that’s all that matters.”
She has played in nine (9) LPGA tournaments this season, but she has non-exempt status and does not automatically qualify for every event.
She got in after missing the cut in her previous five LPGA tournaments and has not made a cut since April

Coquitlam’s Jisoo Keel is a member of the National Team and felt she had a solid chance as this is her “home turf”.

For her getting a chance to play with these pro’s is a dream come true not to mention she is playing in front of her Family and Friends.

Keel has enjoyed many strong finishes to date winning the 2011 CN Future Links Pacific Championship and coming 2nd at the Royale cup Canadian Junior Girls Championship – also in 2011.

She was the 2011 C Canadian Women’s Tour Low Amateur of the year and was granted an exemption into this year’s CN Canadian Women’s Open.

Recently she had the chance to play with LPGA Tour Star Morgan Pressel in the third round and looks to improve on her short game.
