Bilodeau Grabs Gold – Kingsbury Nails Silver

Alex Bilodeau added yet another Gold Medal to his mantle in Sochi while his teammate Mikael Kingsbury walked away with a Silver and this only add’s to his success and as our Canadian Athlete’s enter the first full week of competition in Sochi.

He won Gold four years ago in Vancouver, while Kingsbury was the reigning World Champion at that time and while the compete on the course, they are friends off the course.

Sharing ideas and working together is a big part of any sport and when it comes to the Olympic Games, you just have to work as a team and we all know there is no “I” in Team!

Russian Skier Alexander Smyshlyaev finished with the Bronze Medal and while he failed to get the Gold, the crowd was pleased to have him finish with a Medal, while a third Canadian skier, Marc-Antoine Gagnon, finished just off the podium in fourth.

Bilodeau, became the champion in 2010 in Vancouver and becomes the first man to ever successfully defend the Men’s Olympic Moguls crown.

He is also the first Canadian Athlete to defend an Olympic crown in any event since it was done by speed skater Catriona Le May Doan won Gold in the 500 metres in both 1998 and 2002.

This coming off the win by Justine and Chloe Dufour-Lapointe who took Gold and Silver in the Women’s final on Saturday as their Parents watched from the stands.
