Sometimes when you get a second chance it’s often a better move than the first “dance” with any team or organization and one returning player for the Whitecaps is Mauro Rosales.

The Whitecaps FC made it official and announced that they have signed Rosales (36) to a contract for the upcoming 2017 MLS season.

He returns to the team following a “cup of coffee” for a year with FC Dallas where he helped them win their first US Open Cup and the MLS Supporters Shield, which is awarded to a team with the best regular-season record.

His small frame of 5”8” and  a slim weight of 165 originally came to the Whitecaps in 2014 making 36 appearances, scoring one goal with six assists with his short season and a half with the Whitecaps FC.

It was initially Carl Robinson who mentioned that he (Rosales) was an instrumental part of the process of helping the Whitecaps manage to sign Fredy Montero who was on loan from the Chinese Super League team Tianjin Teda.

He (Rosales) will not be available to play in the upcoming CONCACAF match as he has participated in the tournament with Dallas.

It’s also reported that the whitecaps FC have acquired Brek Shea from Orlando City SC in an exchange for 26 year-old Giles Barnes.

It’s expected that he will be in the line-up for the CONCACAF match March 2nd at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver against the New York Red Bulls.

He has managed to score 22 goals with the same number (22) of assists through his 149 MLS matches he has played with FC Dallas and Orlando City SC.

He was also a finalist in the 2011 MLS MVP award and also played for two seasons with Stoke City FC in England, which managed to include a loan with Birmingham City FC as well as Barnsley FC.
