The struggle continues both on and off the field. Not the best winning % for the current season, but afterall they are an expansion club in the MLS. So it’s not much of a shock to anyone.

President Bobby Lenarduzzi wants to win and in doing so he expects to fill the stadium, especially BC Place when they finally get to play later in the year.

The Whitecaps made if official and announced that Martin Rennie will take over the expansion Major League Soccer club in 2012.

He currently coaches the Carolina RailHawks of the North American Soccer League and will remain there for the rest of the season.

“This is a new challenge for me,” Rennie said. “I always wanted to coach in MLS but to do it in Vancouver is a great opportunity for me.”

Meeting the ownership group, finding out what they are about, it matches what my philosophy is.” Vancouver president Bobby Lenarduzzi told the media “his club has been aware of Rennie for some time.

He has been on our radar screen and we became aware of the fact other clubs were approaching him. We did not want to lose out on the opportunity.”

The Whitecaps fired head coach first head coach for the expansion club Teitur Thordarson May 30 and replaced him with director of soccer operations Tom Soehn on an interim basis.
