What’s Your Priority?

Published on

Ever missed a practice for a reason you thought was truly honest and you of all people had a good reason in doing so, or so you thought at the time?

Missing practice at a minor sporting level might seem fine, but once you reach the pro/minor pro level Coaches simply don’t take it lightly and fail to see the humor in it.

Such was the case recently in the NFL for one of the Baltimore Ravens rookie Timmy Jernigan who in the off-season resides in his home state of Florida.

When it comes to seeing something he has never seem before such as snow it was so enticing to him he was like a “kid” and just had to go make a snowman and probably text the photos to his Family and Friends back home.

For him seeing snow for the first time (ever) was so mind-blowing that this caused him late to a team meeting, which for teams at the pro level is something you simply don’t do.

Ok so the 22-year-old rookie from Florida State made the most of his first experience and did what anyone would in their first encounter and went out to play in the snow after practice.

He had been playing in the snow thinking that his team’s defensive meeting was at 4 pm, where in fact it had been moved up to 3:30 pm, so this is either a communication problem from the team or he simply forgot!

Knowing he was not at the meeting a team official came out quickly to let him know that he was missing the meeting and of course he was unable to finish his snowman, which had to be left unfinished – till later.

While this sounds strange, not even the team coaching staff could get mad, because really it was actually funny for everyone on the team, including ownership.

Could have  been worse as the snowman was at least on the practice field and not somewhere else.
