Westgard Wants Change

Growing up in North Delta and being involved in minor sports was what he did, back then and moving ahead for the success of the club, all for the fans.

Chuck played hockey, but his passion was baseball and interesting enough, he was good at both and then some, which is why the Eagles will succeed.

The Surrey Eagles Hockey Club are ushering in a new era with a revitalized ownership and management structure.

Eagles owner Chuck Westgard has bought out his partners to gain 100 percent control of the team.

In addition, Westgard has enlisted the services of a sports management company to carry out the day-to-day operations of the club going forward.

“Our vision is for the Surrey Eagles to be champions on the ice as well as champions in the community,” Westgard stated, “and it’s clear that change needed to come to our organization.”

“Our plan going forward is for the Eagles to place renewed emphasis on community engagement and involvement, and that focus on the community will stretch to our roster too,” Westgard added. “We want our club to feature life-long Eagles supporters, which is why we plan on building our roster with the very best LOCAL talent our region has to offer.”

This change will ensure the Surrey Eagles will remain a viable part of the community as they prepare for their 24th season in the BCHL and only want what’s best for the players.

More information on the team’s organizational structure going forward will be made public in the coming weeks.
