UBC Looking For New Coach

Published on

When is a coach no longer a coach – when he leaves for greener pastures in search of something more stable.

Such is the case with former UBC Head Coach Tyler Kuntz who leaves a school that was targeting a sports review and now joins the WHL Vancouver Giants.

Kuntz stepped down as the Head Coach of UBC following an on-going process that set it’s sights on a sports targeting review what was initiated by VP of the Students Louise Cowin.

Many actually thought that the T-Birds were going the way of the do-do bird to become extinct only to purge some of the varsity sports allowing UBC to excel in others.

Regardless of your view this entire process has caused chaos in the number of individuals that have left which total 35 following the departure of Kuntz.

Good on UBC for taking this on allowing Tyler to move forward to greener pastures where there is no turmoil and join with Lorne Mollenken of the Vancouver Giants of the WHL.

It should be known that the Giants went after Kuntz hoping he would want to become more of a coach and not a baby sitter for locating funds for the program.

Apparently locating funding to keep the team on the ice was becoming difficult so why not become a part of an organization that is top notch in the WHL and do what he loves – Coach.

We wish him all the best, now UBC is in the same spot the Giants were last year, searching for a new Head Coach.

Good luck with this?
