Swimmers Test Water

Published on

Swimming is not just something we do at the beach, but rather it’s a sport that shows how strong individuals are in various competitions.

With the trials taking place in Montreal three members of the White Rock Amateur Swim Association are competing in hopes of making the 2012 Summer Olympics.

The three are (in no particular order) Emma Mittermaier, Ben Berg and Brian Johns. All are Coaches with the Association and are extremely focused on making the Summer Olympics in England.

The event finishes on Sunday. If any make the cut, they will be spending the spring and summer getting set for the games, then participating, in the Games.

If they fail to qualify, then it’s back to the pool in White Rock instructing young swimmers.

Brian Johns also trains and coaches at UBC with the Vancouver Dolphins and is WRASA’s Head Coach.

Ben Berg is the club’s Assistant Head Coach and trains at SFU and is a member of Canada’s National Team.

Mittermaier, a long-time swimmer with the Pacific Sea Wolves and is in her second year coaching youth swimmer with WRASA.
