2016 Women’s World Softball Championship

In just under three weeks the City of Surrey plays host to the 2016 Women’s World Softball Championship.

In hopes of growing the sport to young Women, not only in the lower mainland but other areas around the Globe the event will be offering an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to young aspiring softball players to step up to the plate and hit a home run.

Youths aged 8-16 will get the chance to meet and be taught by some of the greatest female softball players in the world at specialised clinics that will take place in Surrey.

This is a unique opportunity for them to enhance their softball skills and knowledge while gaining an insight into the dedication and hard work it takes to succeed in the sport.

Canadian Open Fastpitch are teaming-up with various teams from around the Globe, which include Canada, Australia and Ireland to name only three (3) Countries to host these exciting clinics.

In addition Two-time Olympic Gold Medalist, Michele Smith (Team USA) will also be offering up her expertise during two specialised pitching clinics.

For all aspiring softball players this is an unforgettable fun experience that is not to be missed and all clinics will take place during this year’s tournament in Sunnyside Park and Crescent Park in Surrey.

The WBSC XV Women’s World Softball Championship is operated by the SURREY 2016 Organizing Committee, which focuses on the advocacy and development of the sport of Fastpitch.

The event is built on the power of sports, where the athletes and teams of every softball-playing nation in the world have an opportunity to compete.

For two decades, through the Canadian Open Fastpitch Society, they have accomplished this by staging a first class, family oriented elite international Fastpitch championship.
