Rebels Climbs Back

The Red Deer Rebels climbed back into the series with the Hitmen with a 2-1 win on home ice.

The winning goal was scored by Mathew Dumba at 6:33 of the first O/T period giving the rebels the victory. Patrik Bartosak was solid between the pipes for the Rebels finishing with 38 saves on 39 shots while Chris Driedger of the Hitmen finished with 42.

The teams fought to a 1-1 draw in the first with Calgary opening the scoring on a goal by Peter Kosterman at 7:05 giving the visitors a 1-0 lead.

The Rebels got the equalizer before the period was over with Brooks Maxwell scoring an unassisted marker at 14:29 evening the game at one.  The second period was scoreless with both tenders playing extremely sharp which saw Chris Driedger (Hitmen) and Patrik Bartosak (Rebels) shut the door on all shooters they faced. Shots were 12-7 for Calgary entering the final period.

The final period saw no scoring with the “D” on both teams coming up huge turning back any scoring chances either team may have had. Shots through 60 minutes were 38-35 for Calgary.

The O/T session saw the home team score the game winner as Mathew Dumba put the marker in at 6:33 of the first O/T period giving the Rebels a 2-1 win. Rebels Patrik Bartosak finished with 38 saves on 39 shots while Chris Driedger managed 42 saves on 44 shots.
