Gift To Men’s Bobsleigh Team

Students going to school in Summerland had worldwide attention given to them this week after they did something special for a Canadian Olympic Team.

summerland bcStaff and Students at Summerland Secondary School (SSS), Giant’s Head Elementary, and Trout Creek Elementary all signed a Canadian flag sending kind wishes to the Men’s Bobsleigh Team.

Summerland resident Justin Kripps inspired former Summerland Secondary teacher Sandra Richardson to put together the project to send to the team according to SSS teacher Tom Brickenden.

Brickenden says they put the idea into play over exam week so gathering up students to send their wishes was a bit of a challenge. He estimates that they had over 1,000 signatures covering both sides of the flag.

“It was then delivered to the team by a family that Sandra knew who were going to the games to cheer on the Canadian athletes.

They received the flag full of support before their race,” says Brickenden.
