Delta’s Tom Robson

Published on

Hitting a home-run off the pitch of Delta’s Tom Robson won’t exactly be an easy task and the Grade 12 student who attended Delta Secondary in Ladner finally got a taste of what he could be facing in the near future.

The National Junior team finished its annual spring training camp with an exhibition game against Canada’s only pro baseball club – Toronto Blue Jays.

Tom Robson is Canada’s top ranked player for the 2011 Major League draft and was given the start in front of 2,000 supporting Blue Jay’s fans at Al Lang Stadium.

Robson has pitched in the past for the National team, which include two (2) starting assignments against Cuba at last summer’s World Championships.

This start must by the “tip of the iceberg” to date for the young 17 year old from Delta.

“When I found out a few weeks ago that I would be facing the Jays it was immediately something that I was looking forward to and excited about,” said Robson.

The Jays however managed to get to Robson for three runs on three hits and a couple of walks.

He did manage an impressive two strikeouts while on the mound. Not to surprising that the Juniors lost to the pro’s by a margin of 9-0.
