Delta Triathlon

Published on

Saturday April 16th saw over 385 Adults along with just over 100 Kids take part in the 12th Annual Delta Triathlon.

The event was hosted by the Corporation of Delta and started at the Ladner Leisure Center at  7 am for the kids portion.

The event itself could not have been made possible without the support of the volunteers which numbered over 200 in total. All ages helped out and everyone I spoke to clearly stated “they would do it again”.

Say’s a lot about community spirit and helping out the area in which you live.

Participants came from various areas of the lower mainland, Washington State and off-short countries as well.

The event was broadcast live on Delta TV who play a huge role in the community of Delta and those who were unable to attend had the chance to catch the live three (3) hour production.

Taking part in this event was the Head Coach of the Vancouver Giants, Don Hay. He along with two “buddies” from the area “boot-camp” took part in a way of giving back to the community.

Having three person sign up allowed each one to do a portion of the Tri.

One did the swimming, one did the cycling and Don took up the running portion, which he was timed at 22:39 by the stop-watch.
Respectable by any standards and he was happy just to be a part of it.

Next year marks the 13th annual and it would be great if we could reach the 400 mark for those taking part along with 150 kids siging up.

A fun event to cover and along with Denika, it was great to be a part of. The Delta TV crew did an outstanding job under the watchful eye of Kevin Adlem, the Director.

Scott Lunn our GM had the chance to not only pull cables, but take the odd photo of the event, such as the one posted on the site.
