Delta Sports Hall Of Fame

It’s that time of the year when you have to let your mind wander and think of someone who has made a significant influence in your sporting career in the City of Delta

Each fall the Delta Sports Hall of Fame honors various individuals, teams and celebrates Delta sport achievement, recognizes excellence and honour past, present and future sport role models.

Recognition is given to those who are what Sportswave calls “the unsung heroes of sport” who help you achieve your goals regardless of what your sport is and do so without asking for special thanks from behind the scenes.

They are often (but not always) the quiet individuals who only want the best for you, possibly in hopes of helping the next Olympic Champion in Delta, but not necessarily reaching Olympic status.

Some reach this level, while others achieve success on the National, Provincial or Local level but regardless of the level you reach remember the ones behind the scenes who helped you reach your level of success.

Located in front of Delta’s City Hall there is a display case which dates back to the first induction with various individuals, teams, organizations along with volunteers who helped all levels of sport.

The Delta Sports Hall of Fame is again asking for your input as they have two categories in which to nominate.

The first being the Delta Sports Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement category for nomination of Athlete, Team, Coach, Builder, Pioneer and Sponsor.

The second category for induction into the Delta Sports Hall of Fame is for Delta Sport Champions for Athlete of the Year, Youth Athlete of the Year, Master Athlete of the Year, Team of the Year, Coach of the Year and Volunteer of the Year.

If you are wondering how to nominate that special individual here is how.

1. Complete the nomination form.
2. Include relevant sporting history and achievements.
3. Nomination must be received by the closing deadline.

Accepted nominations for the Hall of Fame Inductees will be saved for consideration in subsequent years. Sport Champion nominations are eligible for consideration in the applicable year only. 

The Delta Sports Hall of Fame Nominations Committee reserves the right to seek nominations. Hall of Fame Inductees and Sport Champions will be notified once selections are completed and invited to attend the annual banquet.

The nomination for both Athlete and Athlete of the Year are as follows:

Athlete

An athlete who has participated successfully in amateur or professional sport at a provincial, national or international level. 

This athlete has performed as an individual or team member resulting in athletic recognition and honour for Delta. This athlete is or has been a resident of Delta.

Athlete of the Year

An athlete who has participated successfully in amateur or professional sport at a provincial, national or international level. 

This athlete has performed as an individual or team member resulting in athletic recognition and honour for Delta. This athlete is a resident of Delta.
