While many are watching the Stanley Cup play-offs cheering for their favorite team we seem to forget that the Vancouver Canadians are playing, but south of the 49th.
We received the following press release from Tyler and want to keep everyone up to date and the boy’s on the road throughout one of the strangest season’s ever!!
The weekend started off Friday June 4th that saw the Canadians drop game four of their series against the Eugene Emeralds (Giants) Friday night falling by a score of 10-5 at Ron Tonkin Field.
Vancouver jumped out to an early lead in the first and second with Tanner Morris’ single heading to second on an error when Horwitz managed a base hit as Sebastian Espino led off the second with a solo HR taking a 2-0 lead. 
Right-hander Nick Fraze (L, 3-1) kept the Emeralds scoreless until the fourth, when they managed four runs on two hits, two of the four runs were earned.
They added two more in the fifth on a walk, a double, a sacrifice fly and a single before the C’s got a run game in the bottom of six when a missed catch error at first started the rally when Gold was hit by a pitch.
Espino, laced a two-RBI double to RCF getting to third watching the centerfield fumbled the ball scoring two as Neal singled to LF making it 6-5 followed by a scoreless seventh and eighth, Eugene sent all nine to the plate and used three hits, three walks, an error and a passed ball to put the game away.
Saturday’s Game
Vancouver again failed to figure out Eugene (Giants) that saw a second inning error that scored the tying run allowing the Emeralds to take the lead they wouldn’t relinquish in a 7-4 loss.
Leading 1-0 scoring Tanner Morris on a double in the first as their lead disappeared in the top of the second, with the bases loaded, two outs, Adam Kloffenstein (starter) (L, 1-3) grounded to second that saw the ball booted allowing the tying run keeping the bags full.
With bases loaded, a walk gave the Ems a one-run advantage, scoring three in the fifth (5-1) when the C’s got two runs in the bottom of the inning.
Brito and Neal worked consecutive walks starting the stanza when Kirwer singled, loading the bases, then following a strikeout, Eden forced home a run when Spencer Horwitz hit a sacrifice fly to LF making it 5-3.
The Emeralds hit singles (6th and 7th) maintaining the lead despite a Phil Clarke RBI single in the sixth scoring Luis De Los Santos from second.
The C’s had runners at the corners, no outs in the eighth and failed to score heading in order in the ninth dropping a 7-4 score.
Caracci turned in two scoreless innings of relief as the only pitcher to not allow a run that saw De Los Santos manage two hits, one run scoring while Tanner Morris reached three times with a couple of hits and a walk.
The loss was Vancouver’s first series of the season.
Sunday’s Game
Espino led the offense with two hits, three RBI and two runs scored while Phil Clarke notched his first multi-hit game of the month with a pair of singles.
After losing four of the first five games of the series, the Vancouver Canadians erupted for seven runs on 14 hits to beat the Eugene Emeralds (Giants) 7-3 at Ron Tonkin Field on Sunday afternoon.
Vancouver started the scoring with a pair of runs in the third. Tanner Kirwer got things going with a one out infield single paired with a throwing error that put him on second before an errant pick-off throw moved him to third when Clarke singled him home and later came around to score on a Sebastian Espino base hit to make it 2-0 C’s.
Eugene scored a run in the top of the fourth, but that proved to be the only blemish for starter Paxton Schultz (W, 3-0).
The right-hander turned in his third consecutive quality start with six innings in which he surrendered that one run on two hits, walked two and struck out a season-high nine. He had logged 15 consecutive scoreless frames before the first Emeralds run came across.
Leading 2-1, the C’s added with three runs in the bottom of the fourth and back-to-back one out singles from Guerra and Rivera were followed by a fielder’s choice that put runners on the corners with two outs.
A wild pitch brought Guerra in from third before Clark belted his third double of the year to the gap in left-center field to score another run. Cameron Eden followed with an infield single that featured a heads-up baserunning play from Clarke; he scampered home from second after the play was slow to develop on the right side of the infield.
Luis De Los Santos added to Vancouver’s lead in the fifth. Batting with a runner at third following an Espino single, a passed ball and a wild pitch, De Los Santos added to his team-leading RBI total by grounding out, scoring Espino for a 6-1 C’s advantage when he’s driven in 17 runs this season.
The Emeralds got to reliever Cobi Johnson for two runs in the seventh to end his streak of three consecutive scoreless outings, but the right-hander managed to limit the damage before passing the baton to Justin Maese (S, 3), who worked around an error and two walks to leave the bases loaded in the eighth.
A manufactured run in the bottom of the eighth came across after a walk, a stolen base, a ground out and a sacrifice fly made it 7-3, and Maese struck out the side after a two-out single in the ninth to secure the win.
Contributions came from up and down the lineup this afternoon that saw all nine starters reach base, with eight of nine logging at least one hit.
Clarke led the way with two hits, two RBI and two runs scored while Eden (two hits, two RBI), Kirwer (two hits, three runs scored, two stolen bases), Espino (two hits, one RBI, a run scored), De Los Santos (two hits, an RBI) and Rivera (two hits for the first time this season, a stolen base) all made an impact.
It’s the first time six or more C’s hitters collected multiple knocks in a game for the win, Vancouver is now 17-13 through the season’s first 30 games.
After Monday’s day off Vancouver travels to Spokane for the first of six games with the Indians on Tuesday night at Avista Stadium.
Right-hander Sean Wymer (0-2, 8.24 ERA) will go for the C’s while the Indians have tabbed southpaw Helcris Olivarez (1-4, 4.50 ERA) as their starter.
