Entering tonight’s game the Canucks  need a win if they wish to advance beyond regular season play, which they have not seen for the past number of years.

This game see’s Penticton Minor Hockey player Faith Fraser as the young minor hockey player on the ice in the pre-game skate along side her favorite NHL team.

Yes – it’s true that this marks the official last game in Vancouver and at Rogers Arena for the Finish Flash or Teemu Selanne who surpassed Tim Horton (for being the 22nd) in all time games, which officially happened April 2nd against Edmonton.

He was Captain of Team Finish that won a Bronze Medal at the Sochi Olympics’ as well as the Tournament MVP scoring 4 goals with 2 assists for 6 points.

This is his 22nd season in the NHL and ranks 11th among all-time leaders in goals, six behind Mario Lemieux and ranks 38th in all-time assists; two behind Damphousse.

He is ranked 15th in all-time scoring only 13 behind ex-Blackhawk Stan Mikita, third in all-time PP’G which is 10 behind Bobby Hull.

He is tied at fourth in all-time GWG only behind Phil Esposito.

All of the above named interesting enough they are Blackhawk players and Hall Of Famers who made a huge difference in today’s game as we now know it.

The talk of the town is if the Canucks will make the play-offs this season and if not what will happen in the off-season, such as any moves either on or off the ice.

Will Tortorella return; will Gillis return; what players will return are all valid questions that some of the faithful fans have been asking since the start of the downturn.

When we look at Canucks players March 12th saw Henrik Sedin become the first player in franchise history to play 1000 games all of which were in a Canuck uniform.

This is the fifth and final meeting of the season between these two clubs with the Ducks leading with 3-0-1 and both Henrik and Zack Kassian share the lead in scoring for the Canucks.

In conversation with some of the fans and attending media, some say that they came to see Selanne’s last game in  a Duck uniform in Vancouver.

Either way it was and is great for the game.
