Blazer Banned

Published on

With all the corruption we have be privy to in the world of FIFA the last while are we really surprised to hear that another member has been given the boot – for life!!

We hear about the wrong-doings with Sepp Blather and what he did, now it’s former 70 year-old FIFA Executive Chuck Blazer that has been thrown under the bus.

Blazer has been handed a life-time ban from all Football-related activity by FIFA’s ethics committee and that alone sounds like an oxymoron by itself.

Blazer who pleaded guilty to 10 charges, including bribery, money laundering and tax evasion, in 2013 and if sent to the “slammer” he could have faced a maximum of concurrent imprisonment of 75 years.

has pleaded guilty in the U.S. court to charges of football-related corruption including accepting bribes to vote for South Africa to host the 2010 World Cup.

Really – 75 years, does he look like he could survive that long, so in order to stay living in a life-style he is used to he agreed to become an informant for the FBI and US justice department in return for immunity from prosecution.

Blazer was a FIFA Executive Committee member (1997 to 2013) secretly pleaded guilty in November 2013 agreeing to “provide truthful, complete and accurate information” to prosecutors and to “participate in undercover activities pursuant to the specific instructions of law enforcement agents”.

Sounds strange but FIFA’s new independent ethics chief Cornel Borbely told Reuters he will not take orders from the organisation and/or Sepp Blather.

Borbely (36) replaced Michael Garcia who resigned in December after a fall-out over his handling of his investigation into the 2018 and 2022 World Cup bid process.

Sounds like the entire organization need’s a house-cleaning, but that’s not going to happen!!
