The weekend’s play kicked off Friday night as Metro-Ford Wolves of the Vancouver Metro Soccer League beat their league rivals, defending champions and last season’s National Club Champion silver medallists ICST Pegasus 2-0.

The Wolves move on to play another league rival, Columbus FC, who beat Cowichan FC of the Vancouver Island Soccer League 1-0.

Fraser Valley Men’s League champions Poco FC won a closely fought game against Vancouver Thunderbirds of the Pacific Coast Soccer League 1-0 and will now meet fellow league rival’s North Delta FC, winners 3-2 against Langley United.

In Women’s A Cup play, two teams from the Lower Island Women’s Soccer Association overcame rival from the Metro Women’s Soccer League with Castaways United beating Richmond 4-1 and Saanich Fusion beating TSS Academy 4-0.

Castaways now face a daunting away trip to eight time winners and current national club champions Surrey United this weekend and Saanich Fusion, who earned an all island showdown with league rivals Prospect Lake SC.

There were also wins for NSGSC Renegades and Vancouver Thunderbirds who move into games against Gorge FC and Columbus FC respectively.
In Men’s U21 Cup, two of the top seeds were eliminated as Rino’s Vancouver upset the VMSL champion West Van FC, 4 – 2 and Port Moody Gunners upset their league rivals and Fraser Valley Champion Poco Rovers FC, 2 – 0.
