Sunday, June 15th saw the Delta Revolution Roller Hockey put the “icing on the cake” so to speak as they wrapped up the final day of Championship games at the Ladner Leisure Centre.
In total there were five (5) games that varied from Mite to Bantam, with the younger (Mite) getting the earlier start times in the day.
The week prior the Association had the yearly AGM, which saw John Olsen retire from the ranks of President to move on to other things and focus on house sales with Remax.
He has by no means turned his back on the Association and will help out the incoming President Shawn Johnson, who moves up from the position of Mite Divisional Manager.
The Association is open for both Boy’s and Girl’s who wish to sign up for the coming season and the games are played at the South Delta Recreation Centre, with the finals taking place in Ladner at the Leisure Centre.
Being a smaller Association, I can tell you that they (the players) are having fun and they clearly focus on not only sportsmanship, but also that of safety.
For this alone, Parents can rest assured that your youngster is not only learning the sport, he/she is also learning about life skills by great individuals.
With new individuals on board this Association is looking at growing and attracting more players to join this fast paced sport in Delta.
Earlier in the month the Association did send teams to play in North Van at a tournament, which is held annually by the Association north of the Second Narrows.
Apparently the Association in North Van is more of an elite league, rather than a league such as the one in Delta, but regardless, the kids are all playing.
While the games were webcast, we did get a good number of viewers watching from various Countries, which for the kids is good as they had other relatives enjoying the sport they enjoy.
Overall the final day was a huge success and we had fun working with the Delta Revolution Roller Hockey Association.
We wish them all the best moving forward.
