In Men’s Ice Hockey the UBC Men’s team swept the Manitoba Bisons winning 2-1 in double O/T Saturday and 5-2 Friday in regulation to improve the team record to 8-3-1 on the year.

Cole Wilson grabbed a pair of goals and singles came from Wyatt Hamilton, Max Grassi and Neil Manning beating Bisons “keeper”.
Jordan White was outstanding as the shot the Bisons 41-20 as White finished with 39 saves in the victory.

Saturday saw the T-Birds and the Bisons play to double O/T, but the “Birds” came out on top by a 2-1 stealing their second consecutive win. UBC’s Scott Wasden scored 3:23 in the double O/T. The other goal was scored by Max Grassi for UBC.

Women’s Hockey:

The T-Birds Women’s team took a split four points from the Manitoba Bisons with a 2-1 O/T win Saturday with Tatiana Rafter scoring the game winner at 8:33 of O/T.

Sarah Casorso got the other marker in the victory with Birds “tender” Daniel Dube playing stellar stopping 33 of 34 shots.

Friday saw the Bisons edge the “Birds” 2-1 in a fast skating game with the lone goal coming off the stick of Emily O’Neill.

Starter Daniel Dube was solid in net stopping 23 of 25 shots for the “Birds” who came up just shy in the scoring department.

The split see’s UBC improve to 6-3-3 on the year.

Men’s Hoops:

In B-Ball the Men’s split a pair of games with the University of Fraser Valley winning 76-71 Friday, only to narrowly lose Saturday by a 89-77 score.

Women’s Hoop Action:

The women’s teams swept a pair from the U of F by scores of 76-48 Friday and 88-82 Saturday.

Women’s Volleyball:

In Volleyball the Women swept the University of Calgary on both Friday and Saturday, nailing impressive 3-0 set wins. the Men’s team also won in four sets over Calgary 3-1 on Friday and Saturday night on the road seeing the UBC Women improve to 7-1 on the season keeping them tied with TWU for Top spot in the West, while the men fell to 4-4 on the season.

SFU Action:

In SFU sports action the hockey team defeated TWU 5-2 as the Clan continue to have an exceptional season winning 5-2 over TWU improving their record to 5-1-0-0.

They got goals from Nick Sandor, Tdaz Brown, Ben Van Lare, and Colton Graf (a pair) managing outstanding “keeping from Evan Kurylo who stopped 18 of 20 shots in the match. Top team in the league is Selkirk at 10-0-0-0.

The men’s soccer team reached the final four for the NCAA championship and are just two wins away from the first non-US school to have a chance to win the title.
