Third Medal In Two World Cup Stages

Ottawa’s Ivanie Blondin is making strides in the world of speed skating after she won her third medal this season in two World Cup stages in Nagano.

She crossed the finish line winning Silver in the women’s mass start at the ISU World Cup Long Track Speed Skating event.

Earlier in the week she fought a virus forcing her to withdraw from the 1000m and 3000m races.

She returned to the ice finishing second allowing Gold to go to Bo-Reum Kim of South  Korea.

Francesca Lollobrigida of Italy placed third while Quebec’s Béatrice Lamarche finished 21st overall.

Laurent Dubreuil of Lévis, QC Vincent de Haître of Cumberland, Ontario and Montreal’s Christopher Fiola teamed up allowing Canada to capture Gold in the team sprint at the ISU World Cup Long Track Speed Skating stage also held in Nagano.

The trio paced their skate time to 1:20.52 finishing ahead of Germany (1:21.27) and Japan (1:21.53).
