If you liked them the first time or even the second, let’s try edition number six and see if Canadian’s are truly as patriotic as everyone say’s we are.
True they were a huge hit when they first came out at all Hudson Bay stores across the country and everywhere you went in 2010 on the Coast you saw them.
In rinks they were used for hockey Mom’s and Dad’s in one side of the building and on the other side it was the Curlers that wore them, not to mention the one purchased for gifts.
While now Hudson’s Bay is launching it’s sixth edition of the Red Mittens later in hopes or gathering attention to it’s new Olympic Ambassador, the Dufor-Lapointe Sisters, namely Maxime, Chloe and Justine.
The first edition was introduced for Vancouver 2010 and they (the mittens) have helped Hudson’s Bay raise more that $26 million thanks to fans choosing it as a symbol of support for Team Canada.
It seems the newest or latest mittens are unique from its five predecessors in being primarily black with red and white accents.
The word “Go” is written in white on the inner-right palm and a fleece Maple Leaf with an embroidered outline rests on the inner-left. “Canada” is embroidered in white on the outside of each hand.
The world-renowned logos that cement the partnership are once again on the outside cuff of the mittens, the Canadian Olympic Team is on the right hand and Hudson’s Bay is on the left.
For the second straight year the mittens are available in an infant size and $3.33 from each pair of #RedMittens sold go to the Canadian Olympic Foundation.
New Ambassadors
Justine Dufour-Lapointe stood on the Olympic Podium in Sochi, Russia and knows that for continued success for all Canadian athletes Hudson’s Bay provides a tremendous opportunity.
Prior to the sisters another freestyle ski legend, double-Olympic moguls champion Alex Bilodeau, was the face of the iconic mittens. Bilodeau retired at the conclusion of the 2014 freestyle season, but Justine and athletes of the next generation are only getting started.
“With this support, we will be able to compete at our best.”
