Team BC Finished 11th
The final round of the 2012 Girls’ Junior Americas Cup turned out to be closer than anticipated, as Hawaii clung to a one-stroke victory over Southern California at Wailea Golf Resort in Maui. Finishing in third place was Mexico.
Team BC dropped another two spots after the final round into eleventh overall but represented the province and British Columbia Golf with pride as they finished with a three-day, team aggregate total of 695, +47.
Representing British Columbia were Victoria’s Naomi Ko, Maple Ridge’s Keanna Mason, West Vancouver’s Alix Kong and White Rock’s Grace Chua.
Today’s final round saw the scores from Kong (76), Ko (78) and Chua (80) count towards the team aggregate.
ABOUT GIRLS JUNIOR AMERICAS CUP
The Girls Junior America’s Cup was established in 1978. Today the tournament brings girls together from various states and countries fostering new friendships and mutual respect.
Each team consists of the top four (4) girls from each state/country. These golfers exemplify not only outstanding skill and experience, but also true sportsmanship, discipline, courtesy and strength of character.
The tournament consists of teams playing a 54-hole competition plus many fun events
