Published on

In a game played in San Antonio the British Columbia’s provincial under-18 Team BC tackle football team, has defeated Europe 45-7 at the 2014 FBU International Showcase.

The game began shortly after 11 pm CST on Saturday, January 4 and concluded early in the morning of Sunday, January 5 at the Alamodome.

Team BC scored 45 unanswered points en route to the victory after giving up the game’s opening touchdown.

The game against Europe was Team BC’s lone game of this year’s tournament and no formal statistics were available for this game.

REC A.J. Blackwell (Carson Graham Eagles, North Vancouver) led the way offensively with a pair of touchdowns.

REC Jack McDonald (South Delta Sun Devils), LB J.P. Kalambay (W.J. Mouat Hawks, Abbotsford), LB Clovis Lumeka (W.J. Mouat Hawks), and REC Eldridge Sellers V (Terry Fox Ravens, Port Coquitlam) all had touchdowns for Team BC.

RB Jamel Lyles (Lord Tweedsmuir Panthers, Surrey) was forced to leave the game with a collarbone injury. He was transported to a local medical facility.

Below are quotes from Team BC head coach Tom Kudaba (Terry Fox Ravens) following the victory over Europe.

HEAD COACH TOM KUDABA

“A.J. Blackwell from Carson Graham ran very well for us. He had to fill in for Jamel Lyles who has a suspected broken collarbone.”

On his thoughts on the tournament overall:

“I think this year’s team had the same amount of commitment and competitive spirit as last year’s team. We might have had some tough players that didn’t make it on the roster because of other issues but our kids came to play. We’d like to have played the Americans in a full game. [Not getting to play them] was disappointing.”

Thanks to Football BC for the info.
