The cross-town rivalry continues as the annual Delta Bowl saw the Seaquam Seahawks play the South Delta Sun Devils November 3rd at the John Oliver Park located off highway 10.
This year saw the game played on a soggy, damp downright nasty Friday night rather than the normal Saturday night’s match-up.
The teams arrived early and were set up which saw the Sun Devils take the far side of the field whereas last year they were on the parking lot side with Seaquam on the highway side.
Why – who really knows but that’s the way the teams set it up in a contest that saw the Seaquam Cheerleading squad out in full force cheering their team on.
The cheers were positive but the outcome was anything but positive for Seaquam that saw them drop the contest by a 35-30 margin which was a highly entertaining match-up.
South Delta utilized both QBs that saw Dominic Dumas and Darius Hanna while Seaquam went with Jack MacQuarrie for the contest in the one and only game this season for the clubs until postseason.
To no surprise South Delta is under the control of Ray Moon and also operates as the Defensive Coordinator while Jerry Mulliss is the Offensive Coordinator.
Seaquam GM is Narvin Chand while Kevin Phillips is the Head Coach along with eight Assistant Coaches..
While the game wasn’t what Seaquam expected as far as the final score that alone wasn’t indicative of the talent on display on the field for the four quarters of play.
Following the game the championship trophy was presented by the City of Delta Councillor Jessie Dosanjh on behalf of Mayor George Harvie.
Congratulations to South Delta on winning this year’s championship, but knowing Seaquam as I do all they have to say it – “Wait till next year”
