Success On And Off The Court
The very first Odlum Brown Vancouver Open took place in the summer of 2002 at the Jericho Tennis Club, before it subsequently moved farther north to the Hollyburn Country Club, in West Vancouver.
The tournament brings together tennis professionals from around the world and this year there were the top 50-plus on the courts.
Past Champions of the Championship include Vasek Pospisil (2013) on the Men’s side and Stéphanie Dubois (2009) on the Women’s side of the event.
The only players to win here were Raonic, Murray and try as she might Bouchard played in the tournament in the past, but failed to win.
This year’s winner for the Men’s was Dudi Sela, who also won in 2010, 2008 and 2005 while the Women’s Championship was won by Johanna Konta of Great Britain.
Once again it was great community involvement from West Vancouver that sees the residents welcome the players and coaches into their homes for the week.
Jena Fair and her staff of volunteers spend countless hours making this tournament the best it can be.
