PJHL Postpones Games

While some bask in the sunshine the lower mainland has been covered under a blanket of snow which as everyone knows puts the area on hold.
Locally various events such as Delta Gymnastics and now we have heard that the Pacific Junior A Hockey League have postponed not only the games on Wednesday, but also the Richmond Sockeyes game against the White Rock Whalers.
In light of the ever changing weather conditions in the area the league made the decision to cancel both regular season games scheduled for Thursday evening.
Naturally this action was taken after discussion between the teams as well as the League noting that the Sockeyes make-up game will be played Monday January 29th at Minoru Arena and as of press time there was no date for the Surrey game.
Any time we are put under a “blanket of snow” such as we have had the past couple of days the priority should be focused on the safety of everyone and not wanting to put anyone in a situation that could cause serious injury or worse.
Locally the crew have been doing their best to keep up with the snowy conditions and not speaking about other areas the City of Delta have done a remarkable job keeping up with this working around the clock.
This isn’t the first time that games have been cancelled nor will it be the last but regardless of your thoughts of “wanting to play” no one wants to put anyone at risk.
From our desk this was the only decision the PJHL could have made and besides no one wants to play in front of an empty building.
Thanks for taking the safety of the players first!!!!
