SMG Kicking The 2011 Federal Election Campaign

We are officially kicking off our 2011 Federal Election Campaign: It’s more than a Game: Taking Action for Sport and Physical Activity in Canada.

With your participation, our campaign will reach-out to candidates across Canada with your sport and physical activity messages.

Together, using the key messages for the campaign, we will ask each candidate how they propose to strengthen sport in Canada. Simply asking the question can make all the difference when we work together.
It’s easy to get involved…

Join the campaign online at www.itsmorethanagame.ca and sign up today! You can also find us on Facebook and Twitter.

Post the campaign icons (found in our website Resource section) on your website and link them back to www.itsmorethanagame.ca.

Encourage your member clubs and affiliates to do the same thing.

Forward election bulletins like this one throughout your networks. Ideally we would like you to urge clubs, coaches, athletes, and other sport-minded individuals, especially those located in our 45 target ridings, to engage in this election campaign using the tools we have created.

Take action by speaking with or writing to your candidates, or write a letter to the Editor or as an Op Ed to your local paper – see our tools to help you at www.itsmorethanagame.ca

Attend or host an all candidates meeting in your riding – ask us how.

And please let us know how it goes!! Connect with us at the campaign headquarters: SMG@SIRC by phone at 613.231.7472, x 246 or x 222 or email: [email protected]

We’ll be here to help you to get that message out, with tools and advice from within the Sport Matters network.

We’ll continue to take our message to each of Canada’s major political parties until voting day on Monday May 2nd.

Because ‘it’s more than a Game’,

Erin Kasungu and Chris Jones
