With strong winds and blowing snow making visibility and athlete safety impossible, FIS organizers have cancelled today’s Slopestyle competition in Breckenridge, Colorado.
As a consequence, final results will be based upon qualifications that were held on Wednesday January 8, 2014.
Based upon these results, Kim Lamarre of Quebec City, QC finishes in 4th position and Yuki Tsubota of Whistler, B.C. in 5th position.
On the Men’s side Victoriaville QC’s Vincent Gagnier, finished 4th and Alex Beaulieu-Marchand of Augustin- De-Desmaures, QC has
finished in 10th position.
Technical Coach J.F. Cusson was OK with cancelling the event considering the safety concerns. “Wednesday was a
tough snow day for the qualifying athletes,” said Cusson, “Depending on where you were in the start order and how much snow was falling at the time, it was difficult to get up enough speed to be able to execute the jumps.”
Cusson was thrilled with the identification of Lamarre and Gagnier as recognized top-tier skiers.“Kim has really worked hard to come back from her injuries and her results are amazing,” said Cusson, “and Vinnie is probably the most creative guy on the tour. He always has crazy tricks that are his own inventions. It’s about time the judges started giving him some respect.”
