Remembering Our Past

Published on

Remembrance  Day for Canadians is a time to reflect and “thank” those who gave of themselves during the time of war so we have our freedom as we enjoy it today.

As a youngster growing up having a Father that was both in World War 11 followed by a career in the Royal Canadian Air Force we were fortunate to enjoy military life.

It was a way of life that many might not expect or understand, but for us as “PMQ Brats” it was the thing that we understood.

We knew the military life and had the opportunity to attend and take part in several air-shows taking to the Men and Women who served for Canada.

While living in Comox we met personal from bases around the world hearing first hand about their life and life outside Canada.

My Daughter (Annette) knew first-hand what military life was about spending time with my Parents as well as her Mother’s parents, passing this on to her Family.

The time she spent was not just valuable, it was rewarding giving her the overall understanding of honesty, integrity and respect for those who served, giving today’s generation the freedom they know and understand.

Often quite unique, it was a life I for one would not change as both my parents understood what it was for us to learn about the military, respect what it meant and the importance of giving for a better Canada.

On behalf of my Family, the Sportswave crew, Laird Allan, Carl Haering and Bruce Nolte “Thanks”  to those who made Canada a better place to live for future generations.
