While some might be sleeping, you know that the entire town of Anaheim Lake will be up watching and cheering for local boy Carey Price, who should get the start in the Gold Medal final in Sochi.

The remote small interior community of Anaheim Lake will gather early at the local Ulkatcho First Nation’s Nagwuntl’oo School to cheer for the hometown hero, who has made the town.

The local school administrator Joanne Brar told CBC that Carey has given the community something to be proud of and they are soaking it up as best they can.\

No doubt they cheer when he hits the ice when he plays for the Montreal Canadians and when they play in Vancouver there are normally about 400 plus watching the warm-up prior to the game, which is not too surprising.

“That’s the biggest thing, because I think you know every community does have their challenges, but you know, Carey’s a healthy role model, and he’s actually made it quite far.”

Use of the school has been essentially the hub of hockey community during the Sochi Olympics and for all games different people have been filling the school to watch the games on big-screen TV every time Carey hits the ice.

Not to be surprised the phone has been ringing “off the hook” asking for any updates since the Men’s hockey started in Sochi, and to the surprise of some, prior to these games very few in the community followed the sport.

She stated “Now everybody’s glued to the TV. Any home you go into, if they have a satellite dish, you will see the Olympics on.”

Everyone will be up early following and watching and hollering for Carey, which isn’t unlike small town Canada.
