PK’s Donation To Montreal Children’s Hospital

You might not like his style of play, the way he acts or conducts the odd interview, but you can never take away his huge heart.

PK has made a difference to those less fortunate and is committed to being the spokesperson to put this cause front and centre, no different than what Carey Price has done with his involvement with Autism.

PK’s parents both migrated to Ontario from the Caribbean in 1970 and his Father Karl who is now a retired school Principal moved to Sudbury, while his Mother Maria moved to Hamilton from Montserrat.

He has four siblings, Sisters Nastassia and Natasha and Brothers Jordan who was drafted by the Canucks in 2013 and Brother Malcolm who was selected by Boston in 2012.

He played his Junior with the Belleville Bulls and was drafted by the Canadians in 2007 in the off-season 43rd over-all and managed 46 points in 58 games.

He went on to add 23 points and matching his regular season goals total of eight in the post-season and the following season he won the James Norris Memorial Trophy.james norris trophy

Initially he was signed to a three-year, entry-level contract by the Canadiens and played for the farm team, the Hamilton Bulldogs in the AHL.

He was called up to play in the AHL All-Star game and following that he was called up to the Canadiens on February 11, 2010.

The following day (February 12) Montreal called him up and he registered his first career NHL point (an assist) in his debut against the Flyers.

This past summer I had a chance to talk to Brendan Gallagher about PK and what he means to the team and Brendan was quick to point out that he was “well respected by everyone in Montreal and enjoys seeing the smile’s on the faces of the youngsters.

Today – that became even more of a reality with his huge donation to the Montreal Children’s Hospital of $10 Million dollars and is committed to being the spokesperson for seven years.

In honor of such a move and as a way of saying “thank-you” the hospital named its three-storey atrium in honour of PK Subban .

Jean BeliveauHe was joined at the event by Élise Béliveau, the wife of late Montreal Canadiens legend #4 Jean Béliveau, who is still a respected member of the Canadian’s.

His generous gift eclipses his NHL salary this coming season (2015-16) which is a mere $7 million and is entering the second season of an eight-year contract that will pay him a total of $72 million.

Class Act PK and from the Kid’s and Sportswave.ca “Thank You” for your huge donation.
