PJHL All-Star Game Action

The annual Pacific Junior Hockey League All-Star game was hosted by the Ridge Meadows Flames held at Planet Ice January 14th with the Tom Shaw All-Stars pulling out an impressive 14-11 victory.

The game was played between the Harold Brittain Conference and the Tom Shaw and was played in front of roughly 250 fans.

The opening period saw five goals scored with the Harold Brittain Conference up 3-2 at the intermission.

In the first intermission the PJHL All-Star 10 puck shootout took place with the Harold Brittain Conference pulling out the victory in the skills competition as each team roster took times to shot on both “tenders” as they traded places between the pipes.

Tom Shaw Conference got goals from Steelers Mateo Coltellaro who opened the scoring 2 and half minutes in with Delta’s Liam Visram getting the second of the game taking a 2-0 lead.

Ridge Meadows Eric Bourhill got them back in the game a short two minutes later with Langey’s Trevor Sundher getting the teams even.

Pilots Jacob DeWaal gave them a lead 3-2 with a short 12 seconds remaining in the opening period.

The second period saw a total of 10 goals scored by the Tom Shaw Conference, with only 4 by the Harold Brittain stars, which made for an entertaining game.

Delta’s Daniel Rubin tied the game a 3-3 a minute in and two minutes later Richmond’s Edvin Hasakovic gave them a 4-3 lead.

Langley’s Trevor Sundher got his second of the game, followed by Mateo Coltellaro who scored his second of the night putting the Tom Shaw Conference up 5-4 followed by the tying goal from Pilots Baylee Wright.

Jacob DeWaal gave the Harold Brittain a 7-5 lead which was his second of the night as Aldergroves Clayton Schroeder gave them a two goal lead scoring 23 seconds apart.

The Tom Shaw Conference grabbed a 8-7 lead as Delta’s Alex Suprynowicz managed one of his own.

Mateo Coltellaro grabbed his hat trick goal with Delta’s Nick Marsh added the go ahead goal with the scoring coming in a span 45 seconds.

The third saw Steelers Mateo Toledo extend the lead to 9-7 while Delta’s Daniel Rubin added his second of the night making 10-7.

The remainder of the game saw both teams trade goals, but the end result saw the Tom Shaw Conference grabbing a 14-11 victory.

Starting “tender” for the Harold Brittain Conference was Port Moody’s Matthew Trulsen eventually relieved by Pilot’s Keaton Dyck.

Richmond Sockeye’s Jeremy Kelleway started for the Tom Shaw Conference and was eventually replaced by Steelers “tender” Cale Dolan.

Head Coach for the for Harold Brittain Conference was Langley’s Burt Henderson with his two assistants being Thomas Koshman and the trainer Dan Mack.

Delta’s Steve Robinson was the bench boss for the for the Tom Shaw squad having both Delta Assistant’s Cam Cuthbert and Mike Ondzik with trainer Wayne Hubbard on the bench.

While the game was an easy flowing game with no penalties being assessed by Referee Brad LeBus and linesman.
