Pilates – Lengthen Strengthen and Balance

Today I will let you know a secret used by many athletes these days – Pilates.

Pilates emphasizes elongating the muscles and creating space between the joints, while simultaneously building stability. Increased range of motion can help prevent injury.

For those in highly mobile positions, Pilates can facilitate more efficient movement on the field.

Like yoga, Pilates can improve flexibility, balance and strength. As long as your hamstrings are tight, your movement will be restricted, but relaxed hamstrings promote full-range of running motion, as well as postural alignment and huge improvements in muscle balance.

Pilates can improve one’s ability to change directions on the field or ice largely due to increased flexibility in his hip flexors. Having tight hip flexors not only reduces a person’s agility but can also lead to serious injuries.

Lifting weights makes muscles tight so use my favorite type of training for Strengthening, lengthening and creating muscle Balance.. Pilates.
