National Rackquetball Championships

Kelowna’s Global Fitness Centre hosts Racquetball Canada’s National Team Selection Event which took place over the weekend of November 24th – 26th.

The event (which was his first selection win) was won by Saskatoon’s Tim Landeryou who defeated Eric Desrochers of Ancaster 15-13, 11-15, 11-7.
Desrochers played solid and served great all tournament, which included the semi-finals when he knocked off the top seed Kris Odegard 15-11, 12-15, 11-8.

In the semi-finals, Landeryou beat another Saskatoon player, Nathaniel Husulak, 9-15, 15-9, 11-5.

Women’s Side:

The top two seeds remain undefeated and will playoff for first place. Number 1 seed Jennifer Saunders (Winnipeg) defeated Nadia Verilli of Brossard, Quebec 15-10, 15-4.

The number 2 seed from Regina Christine Richardson defeated Verilli 15-8, 15-4.

The women are playing a round robin when Saunders and Richardson will square off.

Results from this weekend will be combined with results from the National Team Selection Event in February 2013 in Brossard, Que. and the 2012 Canadian National Championships last May.

This is to select the players who will represent Canada at the 2013 Pan American Championships next Easter.

Play concludes Sunday in Kelowna at the Global Fitness Centre.
