Loss Of An Exceptional Athlete
The Canadian Paralympic Committee is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Paralympic silver medallist Brian McPhate and extends its sympathies to his family and friends.
McPhate represented Canada at two Paralympic Games in two sports. At the Atlanta 1996 Paralympic Games, he won a silver medal as a member of the wheelchair rugby team.
At the Athens 2004 Paralympic Games, McPhate placed fourth in wheelchair tennis doubles with teammate Sarah Hunter. ” We mourn the loss of a great athlete, we can be inspired by his many accomplishments,” said Gaétan Tardif, President of the Canadian Paralympic Committee. “Our thoughts at this time are with Brian’s loved ones and everyone whose lives he touched.”
