Lavallée And Corbo Grab 4 Medals At Aaerial

Canadian women conquered the podium in Lake Placid at a NorAm aerials event.

Catrine Lavallée took Gold on Sunday in her first NorAm victory shortly after taking Bronze on Saturday.

Melissa Corbo shared both podiums with her teammate, winning back-to-back Silvers.

Cold weather and strong, variable winds posed a challenge throughout the weekend. On Saturday strong tailwinds switched to headwinds in the afternoon. On Sunday, 40 to 50km / hour tail winds forced the competition to end before super finals.

“The conditions were really tough, I’m so happy with my results,” said Quebec City’s Lavallée who scored 107.36 after the super final on Saturday to take bronze. On Sunday, the super final was cancelled leaving her first finals round result standing. “After I did the final I was so proud of it, it went perfectly for me,” she said, explaining that her final run’s score of 58.42 landed her in first.

Corbo had no problem dealing with the wind this weekend either. “The wind changes the speed,” she explained, “You don’t want to be too fast, you don’t want to be to slow. I dealt great with the conditions.” Corbo scored 113.49 after her super final on Saturday and 56.58 after her final on Sunday taking both silvers.

On Saturday Gatineau Maude Potvin-Gilbert placed 11th and on Sunday she placed 7th with a score of 48.99.

Laurence Proteau of Quebec City placed 6th on Saturday with a score of 100.70 and 10th on Sunday with a score of 45.51.

On the men’s side Quebec City’s Dave Blais Langlais finished 6th on Saturday scoring 137.4 and 9th on Sunday scoring 66.78.

Lewis Irving placed 10th on Saturday scoring 119.17. On Sunday the Quebec City native placed 2rd in qualifications before finishing 8th with a score of 70.98 in the final.

Jean Sebastian placed 13th at his NorAm debut on Saturday scoring 109.17.
