LAST CHANCE FOR BC’s JOHN PINEDA

Canadian wrestlers John Pineda of Vancouver, BC and Jeff Adamson of Saskatoon, SK have one more chance to qualify the weight class for Canada to compete at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, this summer.

The wrestlers will be competing in Helsinki, Finland, at the fourth and last FILA Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

Both Pineda (60kg) and Adamson (84kg) won the Canadian trials in their respective weight classes, and therefore would be nominated to represent Canada at the 2012 Olympic Game, providing that Canada can secure its qualification in those two weight classes.

In Finland, only the best two performers in each weight classes will secure their participation at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, this summer.

The competition at this tournament is once again expected to be stiff for the two wrestlers.

The remaining countries from around the world which have not yet qualified will be present at this very last tournament.

According to the FILA Olympic Qualifying protocol, countries who have already qualified for the Games in specific weight classes will not be present in those weight classes.
